Linux To Figure In Samsung Phone Push

If you consider the issue of operating system exposure, you'll realize that a lot of people spend their whole work days in front of Windows computers. Then, some folks go home and open a laptop or sit at another desk. But thanks to Samsung, Linux is going to be in even more constant touch with certain people as it's used in cell phones.
Won-Pyo Hong, Samsung's head of product strategy, said his company "will start to sell several phones using open-source Linux software platforms this year," according to Reuters. The phones should become available on both sides of the Atlantic. So Linux will get a place in pockets, on nightstands, and so forth, as people in America and Europe keep their phones within arm's reach at all times.
The cost savings Samsung's sure to reap here may make this the start of a real trend; the recession has every company looking for ways to save money. And if these Linux phones prove popular, it's especially likely that other phone manufacturers will follow Samsung's lead.
There could even be the possibility of Linux getting a boost on computers. Some people are sure to make the connection between what's powering their phone and what's available for PCs, after all.
Keep an eye out for technical specs, pricing info, and release dates, though, as Samsung hasn't made any of this information public just yet.
